How will I be notified if I am selected for a paid survey?

If you are selected to participate in a survey, you will be alerted immediately while still on the company's site or the company conducting the survey will e-mail or call you. Some times companies screen individuals over the phone. In this case, the screener will let you know whether you are a fit for the study immediately after answering the briefing questions. Just remember to use precaution and do not give out your social security or driver's license number over the phone. Companies conducting surveys, usually don't ask or need social security or driver's license numbers. However, if you earn $600 or more with their company, then they are required to get your social security number for tax purposes.


Will I have to pay taxes on the money I earn?

Yes. As an independent contractor, you will be responsible for paying your own taxes. In almost every case you'll receive a 1099 form from each mystery shopping company that paid you $600 or more but some companies will send you a 1099 form regardless of the amount they paid you.


How long does it take to complete a survey?

Surveys can vary, but usually take between 5-20 minutes to complete.
